Is 1500 calories enough for a guy who used to eat 4500?

I want to lose weight quickly so I can get into the military. I dont mind being hungry but is 1500 calories enough to keep me from going into starvation mode and gaining more weight back?
Dont worry andrew im not offended. I weigh 350 which is why I need to diet and I know that I was eating way too much.

    the average man should have 2000 or less calories per day. no ofense but 4500 is just rediculous!!!!

    The normal calorie consumption is 2000 a day. 1500 is considered a normal amount to lose weight. If you exercise and eat healthy, your body will not go into starve mode. Just don’t go below 1500.

    I would eat at least 2000 cal. But calories arent always the issue you can eat 2400 cal if the foods are right, ya know…lots of water!!!!! Thats a biggie and exercise, just walking a couple miles a day! You can do it! Good luck! Oh and no snacking before bedtime, that helped me drop 10lbs just doing that alone.
