Pediatric Cardiologist Says Add More Salt to Diet?

What condition would cause a male 16 yr old,non athlete to black out / be dizzy and would make a pediatric cardiologist say to add MORE salt to his diet?

    Actually, these symptoms could be associated with dehydration which will cause dizziness and blackouts. Low sodium contributes to dehydration which leads to the symptoms you listed. Other possible conditions could be labyrinthitis, vasovagal synscope (fainting), anemia, diabetes, aortic stenosis, or even a middle ear infection.

    I’m not saying these are the answers, but they are possibilities. Although dehydration at this point seems to be the best diagnosis. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to message me. I’d be glad to help.

    As for asking the cardiologist:I did 3 times.He was from India,didn’t speak clear English and after the third time asking and still not understanding:I just figured I’d look online.

    Low blood pressure can cause those symptoms. I suspect that’s why he urged more salt. Have him drink more water, that will increase his blood volume and increase his blood pressure.
