To whom does the 2000-calorie diet best apply to?

Miguel C asked:

Does it apply to males or females? Which age range? Sedentary or active?
A physically active man? Yeah right! 2000 kcals is nothing!

Typically, a 2,000 calorie a day diet applies to men.

    Lose weight, Lose Fat

I believe it’s based on your weight and activity. For example… If you weigh 120 pounds you should eat 1200 calories. So as far as your question goes, someone that eats 2000 calories weighs around 200 pounds. Basically add a zero to your weight and that’s to maintain the same weight. Of course this varies according to your amount of activity. I have heard this a few times.

I would say an average-sized adult man (or a woman as big as an average-sized man) who is physically active.

    How to Lose Weight

This 2000 calorie diet is a rough estimate for active males & females between the age of 12 and 25. Males are actually recommended to consume a little more than women at 2200 calories. When I say active, I mean an hours of physical activity DAILY… Also be sure to include a lot of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins & healthy fats in this 2000 calorie range, doing so will benefit you the most!
